Do you have a Publix grocery store in your area? If so, you can score some really cheap ham until Tuesday, January 10 (at least in my area) with a combination BOGO FREE OFFER and a coupon!
While this is not a coupon blog, I do think it’s important to share what I refer to as “frugal finds” from time to time.
Publix sale advertisements in my area run from Wednesday to Tuesday so I try to tackle them mid-week while supplies are good. During this sale, I spotted one heck of a bargain on Kentucky Legend Ham that I wanted to share.
Here’s the scoop…
Kentucky Legend Boneless Ham Steak – 8 oz. package $3.29
Publix BOGO FREE OFFER makes them $1.65 each
Print TWO of these coupons for $1.50 each (one for each package) and you are ready to purchase two of these for a whopping $.15 each! WOW! That’s a frugal find! (NOTE: there are a few different coupons on this site. You are looking to print the one that says UNLOCK, the last one of the four listed, which only means you have to put an email address in.)
Cheap ham as an entrée…
Ham is a good meat to plan a meal around because even picky kids will typically eat it! These are ham steaks, and I’ve used them as an entree many times for dinner. Pair with mashed potatoes and green beans, and wa la! Dinner is served!
In case you need ideas, I have prepared these a couple of different ways and both are hits! One way is to place in a shallow pan, drizzle with honey and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top. Heat in the oven (on about 350 degrees) until thoroughly heated (typically about 10-15 minutes). Flip and cook another five minutes and they’re ready to serve!
Another option is to place in a skillet and pour one cup of regular soda over them. Heat thoroughly on medium/high turning once and you’re done! How easy is that?
How do you prepare ham steaks? I’d love to know. Leave me a message below.
